Sussex Suggests Contributing to Lisbon Memorial
During Tuesday's Villiage Board meeting, officials comment on the inspiring new 9/11 memorial constructed in Lisbon, and possibly contributing money to the site.
After discussing the in the Town of Lisbon, members of the Sussex Village Board are considering buying a brick to place at the memorial.
Buying a custom engraved brick at the memorial is a part of Lisbon’s efforts to fund raise and regain the money initially lost when building the structure. The monument was unveiled for the first time on the 10-year anniversary of the attacks, Sept. 11, 2011.
Trustee Pat Tetzlaff, who attended the event in Lisbon, was the first to suggest discussing the purchase with the appropriate Sussex channels over the next month.

“There was about 2,000 people in attendance during the unveiling,” Tetzlaff said. “It was a beautiful day. Terrorism knows no bounds, and I think we should discuss with finance and the board about possibly purchasing a brick at the memorial.”
Purchasing a brick at the Lisbon 9/11 memorial is suggested to be up for a vote during next month’s meeting.
