Sussex to Purchase Brick at Lisbon 9/11 Memorial

Village Board agrees to spend $3,000 on marquee plaque.

The Sussex Village Board Tuesday unanimously approved the purchase of a $3,000 commemorative brick at Lisbon's new .

Although all of the labor and materials for the memorial were donated, the money raised by the sale of bricks goes toward making improvements at the memorial, such as a new security system at the site, the Sussex Sun reports. More than $20,000 has been donated since the memorial's dedication last month.

The $3,000 that Sussex will spend will purchase a larger marquee plaque that will be placed in one of the walls at the memorial. The cost includes an engraving provided by Halquist Stone, as well as the cost of adhering it to the wall.

Village officials still haven't determined what the plaque will say. Village Board President Greg Goetz appointed trustees Pat Tetzlaff and Timothy Dietrich to come up with the wording for the plaque since the two were the ones who originally brought the idea to the Village Board.
