  • Civic Center Offices & Yard Waste Site will be closed Monday, September 6, in observance of Labor Day. The Yard Waste Site will be open on Saturday, September 4th. Garbage and recycling collection will be delayed one day the week of September 6th. 

We're Hiring! 

  • The Village of Sussex is accepting applications for fulltime Firefighter/Paramedic positions. The fulltime Firefighter/Paramedic shifts are 48 hours on and 96 hours off. The pay range is subject to a collective bargaining agreement.   • The Village of Sussex is hiring a full-time Park Maintenance Technician. The right candidate is a hard-working, independent, detail-oriented individual with a great attitude who enjoys serving the public and making a difference in the community and will take pride in keeping the park system and Village buildings looking great year-round. Regular hours are Monday-Friday from 7 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Most days work will be outside, with many projects being done in a team environment. Parks employees are on-call after the completion of deer hunting season to March 1st for snow removal, as well as every fourth week year-around, which includes weekend park checks. The candidate must have a valid Wisconsin driver’s license. Experience with landscaping, mowing, and sport field preparation preferred. The starting pay is $19 to $20, DOQ. Apply by September 30, 2021.
  • The Village of Sussex seeks qualified Preschool Sports Instructors to implement preschool classes in our growing Youth Sports Program. The ideal candidate will implement existing curriculum and provide excellent customer service to both the students and caregivers enrolled in the classes. We are specifically seeking instructors for Preschool Sports Sampler and Preschool Tumbling classes, but are willing to consider other class proposals. Responsibilities include curriculum implementation, while adding in your individual personality, and class instruction and management in conjunction with our Recreation Coordinator. This is a year-round position with a flexible schedule; however, in the fall this position must work Tuesdays from 4:30 to 5:30 leading a Grown Up and Me Sports class. Hours will vary depending on number of classes running, but could average 5-15 per week. Qualifications: Prefer ages 18+ with experience leading/coaching youth sports and activities. Starting wage at $8.00-$12.95 per hour, DOQ.
  • The Village of Sussex is hiring a part time Administrative Assistant to work 24 hours per week, Monday through Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the front desk on the first floor of the Civic Center. The Village is looking for a self starter who enjoys working with the public in a fast paced environment. Visit villagesussex.org/hiring to learn more.

Splash Pad 

The splashpad will be closed for the season starting on September 7. 

Touch A Truck: Saturday, September 11

When:  10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Where: Armory Park

So many types of trucks ... including FOOD TRUCKS! Join us for Touch-a-Truck 2021! This event is geared toward kids ages 2-8, but will appeal to anyone--kid or adult--who loves trucks! The first 500 children will receive a free book courtesy of Momentum Early Learning! Registration is not required for this event. 

Pints in the Park Traveling Beer Garden: Thursday, September 16

When:  5 to 8 p.m.
Where: Village Park

The final Pints in the Park Traveling Beer Garden of 2021 will be held at Village Park on Thursday, September 16, from 5 to 8 p.m. In addition to craft beer by Brewfinity Brewing Co., Big Daddy-O's BBQ and Mr. P's Grilled Cheese food truck will be there. Stay tuned for more details on our website and Facebook event as we get closer to the event.

Curbside Brush Collection

Curbside Brush Collection begins at 7 a.m. Monday, September 20. Crews make one pass through the Village. Please have all items to the curb by 7 a.m. Brush is defined as twigs and branches from trees and bushes. Branches must be no more than 8 inches in diameter. Place piles close to the street with the cut ends towards the curb. Leaves and grass clippings are not collected as part of brush collection. Follow our progress through the Village at villagesussex.org/brush.

Homeowners wishing to dispose of brush at other times of the year or that miss the annual collection can take the brush to the Yard Waste Collection Site at the Woodland Nature Preserve (N72W22924 Good Hope Road). A Yard Waste Pass or Punch Card is required.

Tire Dropoff Collection

The Village will host a dropoff collection of unwanted tires from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday, October 2, at the Yard Waste Collection site. There is a fee of $2/tire and all tires must be removed from the rim.

VFW Community Market
The VFW Community Market takes place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sundays, June 13-September 19. There is no market on September 5. For more information about the market or becoming a vendor, visit https://vfwcommunitymarket.org/.
We Want Your Tree in the Civic Center Plaza!
Be the pride of Sussex this holiday season with your tree in the Civic Center plaza! The tree must be at least 30 feet tall,  look good from all angles, and be easily accessed for removal by the Village. If you can donate a tree, please call (262) 246-5200.
Property Tax Payments

The Village of Sussex accepts property tax payments directly through July 31. As of August 1, all property tax payments must be paid to the Waukesha County Treasurer’s office.
