• Xcel Energy semiannual test of Trego dam failure warning sirens set (xcelenergy.com) — Residents in Trego living downstream of Xcel Energy's Trego Dam will hear a 90‑second test of the dam failure warning sirens at about 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 5. The drill, coordinated with Washburn County Emergency Management and the National Park Service, is only a test, but it's a reminder of what real alerts would sound like and how quickly to move to higher ground.
