Today's riddle: What do you call a belt that is made of watches? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. ORR Awards Rural Rec. and Health Grants to Communities (woodallscm.com) — Two Rivers is receiving a $7,500 national grant to launch a free outdoor wellness paddling program, with winter pool-based kayaking lessons and guided paddles on the Twin Rivers, Lake Michigan, and Point Beach State Forest next spring. The city will also host an adaptive paddling workshop and purchase specialized equipment so veterans, older adults, and residents with disabilities can safely get on the water.
2. Two Rivers City Manager – 'We are Righting the (Financial) Ship' (seehafernews.com) — Two Rivers' city finances are running significantly ahead of last year, with higher revenues and slightly lower spending helping close a previously identified general fund deficit. City Manager Kyle Kordell credits strong building permit activity, ambulance revenue, and investment earnings, and says the city is steadily "righting the ship" as it heads into the final quarter of 2026.
3. Where do Manitowoc-Sheboygan football teams playoff chances sit through 6 weeks (htrnews.com) — Two Rivers football fans can see exactly what's at stake as the Raiders, now 1-5, try to salvage a playoff shot with crucial games against Valders, New Holstein, and Kiel. A win over Valders is essential, while neighboring teams like Manitowoc Lutheran, New Holstein, and Kiel are positioning themselves for strong postseason seeds in the statewide playoff matrix.
4. Steven Avery, Brendan Dassey of 'Making a Murderer' fame seek commutations (rilawyersweekly.com) — Two Rivers again figures into statewide headlines as Steven Avery and Brendan Dassey seek sentence commutations in the Teresa Halbach murder case, which began at Avery's salvage yard there in 2005. The story explains their new petitions to Gov. Tony Evers' Commutation Advisory Board, recent court rulings against Avery, and where both men's legal efforts stand now.
5. Discovering Wisconsin's Underwater Maritime Heritage (sheboygansun.com) — Two Rivers sits within the Wisconsin Shipwreck Coast National Marine Sanctuary, a protected Lake Michigan stretch rich with historic shipwrecks and new research discoveries. Sanctuary staff are adding data buoys, classroom-ready underwater technology projects, and educational tall-ship cruises in nearby ports to help residents, anglers, and students better understand lake conditions and the region's maritime heritage.
