WAUKESHA -- Just in time for Summer 2016, Niche.com took a look at the best places to raise a family in states across the country.

According to its rankings, Wisconsin offers more than a few possibilities.

In the national rankings, Devon, Pennsylvania earned top honors. In Wisconsin, it's all about Cedarburg. The Metro Milwaukee area took five of the top 10 spots with Elm Grove (2), Whitefish Bay (3), Brookfield (4), Mequon (9) and Fox Point (10) placing high in the rankings. Waukesha placed 87th.

The lists were created using information about public schools, crime rates, cost of living and family-friendly amenities. Data was pulled from the U.S. Census, FBI, BLS, CDC and other sources, according to Niche.

Overall Experience at Waukesha:

Overall, the people here in Waukesha are very much amiable and sociable. I've met people of all diversities throughout my enrollment in the Waukesha School District, and can confidently say that I'm glad I met them. I've developed a greater appreciation for other people's religions and cultures.

Housing at Waukesha:

Lots of nice subdivisions. Ours has diverse housing, but all well kept. We have 10 acres of woods owned by subdivision with playground, walking trails in addition to sidewalks. Great bike trail fairly close. Wish we could ride our bikes there without going on busy road.

Overall Experience at Waukesha:

This area is quiet, the neighborhoods are friendly and there are a lot of kids in the area. Most of the schools in the area are highly rated and the crime rate is fairly low. There population is steady and the houses somewhat close together, though most of the yards are spacious. There is quite a bit of residential area, but there is also many areas that are not developed and are left untouched (Nature preserves, etc.).
