1st Annual Waukesha Oktoberfest Announced: Get Ready for the Wurst Time Ever!

The event is free and open to the public and will include German music, entertainment, activities, food, and beverages.

WAUKESHA, WI: The City of Waukesha Parks, Recreation & Forestry Department (WPRF) announces the 1st Annual Waukesha Oktoberfest will take place in Frame Park on Fri., Sept. 23 and Sat., Sept. 24, 2016.

The event is free and open to the public and will include German music, entertainment, activities, food, and beverages. City of Waukesha Mayor Reilly will be in charge of cooking the bratwurst during the event. Festivities will also include the “Wurst Beer Biathlon,” concessions of food, and Sprecher Brewing Company beers and sodas. A portion of event proceeds will benefit local community organizations.

“We’re excited to offer this new event in Waukesha,” said Joanna Adamicki, special events coordinator for the City of Waukesha Parks, Recreation & Forestry Dept. “The celebration of Oktoberfest is an international event that we’ll now have the opportunity to celebrate in the heart of Waukesha. Making the event even better is the partnership we have with local community organizations on this event.”

Waukesha Oktoberfest will take place in Frame Park in the area of the Formal Gardens. The music stage, beer sales, and beer garden style seating will be offered under a tent with food offerings just outside in another tent. The event will open Fri., Sept. 23 with the “tapping of the Firkin” at 5:00 p.m. hosted by Sprecher Brewing Company and the Honorable Mayor Shawn Reilly. Blaskapelle Milwaukee will entertain Oktoberfest-goers until 9:00 p.m. Contests of hammerschlagen, masskrugstemmen, and cornhole will be offered.

The “Wurst Beer Biathlon,” in cooperation with Silver Circle Sports, will kick-off festivities on Sat., Sept. 24 at 10:00 a.m. The race is a timed 5K race with participants indulging in a brat during the race.

Erich von Klaussen will entertain from 10:00a.m. to 2:00 p.m.; The Kenny Brandt Band will play from 2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. German dancers will perform at 5:00 p.m. and Edelweiss will round out the entertainment with a performance of traditional German music from 5:30 to 9:00 p.m.
