WAUKESHA, WI — It's almost time for the 2017 Waukesha National Night Out. Here is your guide to the festivities:

Date & Time

Waukesha Night Out will take place on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 from 5 to 8 p.m. This event is held annually

Location

This event is held at Frame Park in the Rotary Building Grounds at 1150 Baxter Street, Waukesha, Wisconsin.

Waukesha Night Out is free to the community.

Purpose

This event is designed to:

Find out what's happening in Waukeshafor free with the latest updates from Patch.

  • Generate support and participation in local anti-crime programs
  • Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness
  • Promote safety knowledge
  • Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back
  • Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships

Disaster & Emergency Management

  • Civil Air Patrol (Waukesha Composite Squadron) will provide disaster response information.
  • Flight for Life will be stopping by the event from 5 - 6 p.m. (weather and no emergencies permitting).
  • The Fire Safety House, an ambulance and a fire truck will be on display from the WaukeshaFire Department.
  • Waukesha County Emergency Management will provide Information.

Elderly Care

  • Elderly Care Information - The Caring Place
  • Senior Citizen Outreach Information - Provided by Interfaith Senior Programs

Fitness & Recreation

  • American Dojo Martial Arts will be doing a Martial Arts demonstration.
  • J.K. Lee Black Belt Academy will be doing a Martial Arts demonstration.
  • Kung Fu School will be doing a Martial Arts demonstration.
  • ProHealth Care will by doing bicycle helmet fitting and selling helmets for $10.
  • Waukesha Parks and Recreation will have program information about safe activities for families.

Food

  • G.E. Volunteers will be handing out free food to the community.
  • Addiction program information and cotton candy will be provided by Day Spring Baptist Church.
  • The Waukesha Citizens Police Academy Alumni will be providing corn on the cob.

For the Kids

  • Child ID Kits - Waukesha Police Specialist will be present to finger print children
  • Children's Community Health Plan - Helmet information
  • Early Head Start - Program information
  • Face painting and other child activities from Pick N' Save
  • Kinder Care Learning Center with daycare safety
  • Lions Club of Waukesha - Information on School Eye Checks and why they are important
  • Safe Kids of Southeast Wisconsin - Child vehicle car seat information

General Community Information

  • Animal Safety - Humane Animal Welfare Society (HAWS)
  • Big Brothers and Big Sisters - Program information
  • Drug information provided by the Elks Lodge 400
  • Dunbar Oaks Neighborhood Watch (NW) giving out NW information
  • The Women's Center Waukesha - Information on the center and abuse
  • Waukesha Metro Transit - City Bus on display
  • Waukesha Recycling (County and City) - Recycling display

Police Department Demos & Information

  • A K-9 with deputy and the Armored Bear Cat from the Waukesha Sheriff's Department will be on display.
  • A squad car, armored car and command post will be on display from the Waukesha Police Department.
  • A School Resource Officer and narcotics specialists will be present to answer questions.
  • Anonymous Crime Tip information will be provided by Crime Stoppers of Waukesha County.
  • Firearms Identification (real vs not) and coupons for in-home defense training will be provided by ICombat.
  • Shielded Hearts program information on law enforcement family support systems will be provided.
  • Wisconsin Crime Alert Network will be providing information about alerts in the state.
  • Wisconsin Department of Transportation and the State Patrol are providing a half squad/half taxi cab.

Special Guests & Entertainment

  • McGruff the Crime Dog and Sparky the Fire Dog will be in the crowd.
  • Music will be provided by D.J. Ricky Z from Complete Music.
  • Roscoe the Milwaukee Admiral's Mascot will be in attendance.
