After Officer Was Shot Multiple Times, Milwaukee Police Doubling Up for Safety

Milwaukee police districts were instructed to use two-person squads "effective immediately and until further notice."​

MILWAUKEE -- In the wake of the Dallas police shootings, many police departments across the country paired up for safety.

Now, after another reported shooting in Baton Rouge Louisiana, and the shooting of an MPD officer overnight on Milwaukee's south side, Milwaukee police officers will be pairing up as well.

According to a report by the Journal Sentinel, all seven Milwaukee police districts were instructed to use two-person squads "effective immediately and until further notice,"Assistant Milwaukee Police Chief William Jessup said at a news conference Sunday afternoon.

According to the report, authorities identified the wounded Milwaukee police officer as Brandon Baranowski. He was being treated for serious injuries after being shot while seated in the front seat of his squad car.
