Nonprofit starts campaign for apartments to house homeless families (jsonline.com) — Family Promise of Waukesha County is raising $8 million to turn a former downtown Waukesha church on Maple Avenue into a 10-unit apartment building for homeless families. The Building Hope campaign would fund both construction and operations, offering short-term and transitional housing with support services. Organizers hope to secure city approvals soon and open the facility in 2028.

This Wisconsin Riverwalk Might Be The Prettiest Stroll You've Never Heard Of (takingthekids.com) — If you’re looking for an easy local escape, Waukesha’s Fox River Riverwalk offers paved, riverside paths that connect Frame Park, downtown shops, and the larger Fox River Trail. With water views, seasonal scenery, and nearby cafés, it’s a flexible option for quick strolls, family outings, or longer bike rides without leaving town.
3. 2025 High School Football America Wisconsin Academic All-Americans (highschoolfootballamerica.com) — Waukesha student-athletes from North and West high schools are among those honored on the 2025 High School Football America Wisconsin Academic All-America team, recognizing players with GPAs of at least 3.7. The long statewide list highlights standout students from dozens of programs and underscores Wisconsin’s strong mix of classroom and on-field performance.

MU poll shows 80% believe state should have passed surplus bill (gmtoday.com) — From right here in Waukesha, a new Marquette Law School poll shows 80% of Wisconsin residents think lawmakers should have passed the bipartisan plan to use the state’s surplus for tax rebates, school funding, and property tax relief. Support for the failed bill cuts across party lines, and the survey suggests many voters may weigh candidates’ positions on it in November.
