Waukesha man gets life without parole for killing and hiding neighbor's body (tmj4.com) — A Waukesha man has been sentenced to life in prison without parole for killing his neighbor, in a case that drew attention for his disruptive decision to represent himself in court. The judge described the crime as a calculated execution and rejected the defendant's continued claims of being framed, while the victim's family shared emotional statements about their loss and plans for restitution proceedings ahead.

2. Families celebrate their new Habitat for Humanity homes in Waukesha (jsonline.com) — Twenty families are settling into new Habitat for Humanity homes at Domenica Park in east-central Waukesha, transforming a once-blighted factory site into an affordable neighborhood. The project, backed by city ARPA funds and donors, guarantees mortgages capped at 30% of income and has drawn interest from surrounding counties. Residents describe strong community support, proximity to trails and schools, and the chance at first-time homeownership.

3. Lowest regular gas price in Waukesha County hits $3.53 for week ending Aug. 15 (waukeshatimes.com) — Drivers around Waukesha County recently saw regular gas dip as low as $3.53 per gallon at seven local stations, with the countywide average at $3.74 for the week ending Aug. 15. Prices remain tied to global oil tensions and Midwest refinery issues, so residents should expect continued volatility at the pump even as Wisconsin's statewide average sits slightly higher than Waukesha's.
