1. 9/11 'Survivor Tree,' Waukesha still waiting for delayed seedling (fox6now.com) — Waukesha is still waiting for a promised seedling from New York's 9/11 "Survivor Tree," which city leaders plan to plant at Grede Park's Christmas parade memorial once it's mature enough to ship. Mayor Alicia Halvensleben says the tree will symbolize resilience and shared grief, but officials don't yet know exactly when it will arrive or its precise placement in the park.
   

2. Museum's History After Dark series to discuss beer history (gmtoday.com subscription) — Beer lovers in Waukesha can join the Waukesha County Museum's History After Dark program at North Pillar Brewing on Oct. 1 to explore ancient and medieval German beer. Archaeologist Joshua Driscoll will trace beer's evolution and museum members even get a small discount on their pint when they show a membership card.
   

3. By the dawn's early light (gmtoday.com) — A hot air balloon carrying a White House-flown American flag lifted off near Catholic Memorial High School to honor 9/11 victims, giving Waukesha residents a striking early-morning tribute. Pilot and CMH alumnus Ken Walter shared personal memories of Sept. 11 and explained why flying over Waukesha with veterans on his crew felt especially meaningful this anniversary.
   

4. Drivers in Waukesha County see lowest regular gas at $3.52 in week ending Sept. 5 (waukeshatimes.com) — Waukesha County drivers recently saw the cheapest regular gas at $3.52 per gallon during the week ending Sept. 5, with the countywide average at $3.67. The report compares local prices to the statewide average and explains how global oil markets and refinery outages have been pushing fuel costs around Wisconsin.
   

5. Homestead trounces Waukesha West (gmtoday.com) — Waukesha West athletes had a mixed week, with the football team falling hard to Homestead while the girls tennis squad edged Muskego 4-3 and the Waukesha West/Catholic Memorial swim team taking third at the Classic 8 relays. Several local swimmers and tennis players posted standout performances that Waukesha families will want to celebrate.
