Waukesha council to review proposed Community Investment Program (gmtoday.com) โ€” Waukesha's Common Council meets tonight at 6 p.m. to review a long-term Community Investment Program that would fund major upgrades to streets, parks, sports complexes, and the downtown Riverwalk. Proposed projects include a Jackson Sparks Memorial Field, expanded facilities at Frame and Mindiola parks, renovations at the Saratoga Complex, and continued conversion of downtown streets to two-way traffic to improve access and safety.

'It's okay to ask for help': School District of Waukesha opens high school dedicated to students recovering from substance use disorders (cbs58.com) โ€” Families in Waukesha now have access to Crosspoint Academy, a new recovery high school in the district's former STEM Saratoga building designed for students overcoming substance use disorders. With small class sizes, academic support, and planned on-site counseling and groups, the school offers rolling enrollment and is open to teens from beyond the School District of Waukesha.

Waukesha County executive race now includes two state legislators (jsonline.com) โ€” Waukesha County voters now know of at least two state legislators running in December's special election for county executive, following the death of Paul Farrow. Assembly Rep. Adam Neylon and State Sen. Chris Kapenga are both seeking the role, with an October filing deadline that could still draw more candidates and potentially trigger a November primary.

Wisconsin deer EHD outbreak; cases climb, identified in Dodge County (fox6now.com) โ€” Wildlife officials report that an EHD outbreak has killed or sickened just over 200 deer in Waukesha County, with numbers rising across southeast Wisconsin. While the disease can be devastating for local herds, experts say deer populations typically rebound, and they stress that EHD does not pose a risk to people or pets.

No injuries reported in fire at Quad Graphics plant on Tuesday morning (gmtoday.com) โ€” A fire inside a large paper-processing machine at Quad Graphics' Sussex plant was extinguished in about an hour with no injuries to workers or firefighters. Crews from several area departments, including the Waukesha County Sheriff's Department, used roughly 15,000 gallons of water and foam to contain the blaze without structural damage to the building.
