Following debate over costs and equity, alderpersons ultimately backed the upgrade, citing rising usage, better staff efficiency, and the benefit of extended access when the library building is closed.
2. Waukesha City Hall crash, man sentenced to 2 years in prison (fox6now.com) — A Waukesha man who crashed his car into the Waukesha City Hall sign while allegedly driving drunk with his headlights off has been sentenced to two years in prison and two years of extended supervision. Court records say Colton Sanders pleaded no contest to a felony gun possession charge after officers found a loaded handgun and knife, along with a 0.13 blood alcohol level.
3. Rare Nintendo game found in Waukesha sells for $12,200 (jsonline.com) — A Main Street collectibles shop in downtown Waukesha just turned a forgotten stash of Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt cartridges into more than $18,000 at auction, including one perfect-10 copy that fetched $12,200. The windfall has owner Kevin Braun planning a new lounge and possible arcade area at OneStopWonders, while more cartridges and even a charity auction are still to come.
4. New Berlin West wins fourth straight, dominates Waukesha South (jsonline.com) — Waukesha South's strong start hit a snag as the team was shut out 35-0 by New Berlin West on a cold, rainy Friday night, dropping the Blackshirts to 4-1. South now looks to regroup at home on Sept. 25, when they'll host New Berlin Eisenhower and try to reclaim early-season momentum.
5. Waukesha County, Wisconsin, typical home value rises 4.7% to $508,162 in August 2026 (waukeshatimes.com) — Home values in Waukesha County climbed to a typical $508,162 in August, the highest among all Wisconsin counties and well above the statewide average. For Waukesha-area homeowners and buyers, that's a 4.7% jump over last year, with single-family homes rising even faster than condos and co-ops, signaling a still-competitive local market.
