Municipal Guide to Sustainable Planning

Waukesha, WI; Waukesha County Green Team (WCGT), an environmental education group in Waukesha County, is proud to announce a new tool, The Municipal Guide to Sustainable Planning to assist municipalities and community groups move forward with measurable sustainability actions that are economically advantageous, increase community resilience, and are beneficial to residents and business. The Guide is a free publicly available tool that can be accessed through the Waukesha County Green Team website. www.waukeshacountygreenteam.org

The Municipal Guide offers best practices and access to tools to determine cost benefit across a range of topics including buildings, natural resource and green space conservation, renewable energy and energy efficiency, waste and materials management, municipal and stormwater, roadways and public mobility and more. Case studies and examples from a wide range of municipalities are also a part of the Guide.

“We are excited about the prospect of assisting communities with movement on incorporating sustainable and community beneficial actions into their strategic planning." said Debra Schneider, President of WCGT.

Along with the Municipal Guide, WCGT is providing Online Education on use of the Guide and hosting public Round Table Discussions to give municipalities and community groups the opportunity to network and benefit from the experience of each other. A Tour of the Municipal Guide will take place via Zoom on June 7, 2023 at noon and June 13, 2023 at 6:30pm. Visit our Registration Page to register for programming.

Waukesha County Green Team (WCGT) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation that promotes environmental sustainability in Waukesha County communities through education, collaboration, and local action. It hosts educational forums, community interest groups (i.e. Solar Energy, Permaculture and Gardening, Zero Waste, etc.), the GreenCast podcast with over 2000 listeners, and a community Sustainability Fair. This year’s fair is set for August 28 at the Retzer Nature Center grounds in Waukesha County.

The Municipal Guide to Sustainable Planning was created through a Mosaic environmental movement infrastructure grant. Mosaic supports organizations across the United States who are working on projects that create movement on clean air and water, a safe climate, and healthy and just communities.
