BloodCenter of Wisconsin Hosts Blood Drives in Waukesha County
Immediate need for live-saving gifts from blood donors

Milwaukee – Aug. 18, 2016 – With summer nearing an end, the need for blood donations is still on the rise. The summer months brought an increase in serious accidents and emergencies, generating an ongoing need for life-saving blood – particularly O negative.
Waukesha County blood donors can help patients in need at BloodCenter of Wisconsin’s upcoming blood drives:
· Friday, Sept. 9 from 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Schroeder Solutions, 1920 South Calhoun Road, New Berlin
· Monday, Sept. 19 from 1:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s Parish, N89 W16215 Cleveland Avenue, Menomonee Falls
Donors can schedule an appointment by calling 1-877-BE-A-HERO (1-877-232-4376), or at bcw.edu.
September is National Sickle Cell Awareness Month, which brings attention to the genetic disease that affects nearly 100,000 people nationwide.
Anyone 17 or older who is in general good health and meets eligibility requirements is encouraged to donate blood. Appointments are preferred, but walk-in donors are also welcome. Parental consent is required for 16-year-olds to donate. The entire process takes about an hour. Donors should bring a photo ID that includes birth date.
