California Woman Died In Head-On Highway 83 Crash: Report

Authorities say a woman driving an SUV lost control of her vehicle Wednesday afternoon, colliding with a box truck on Highway 83.

WAUKESHA COUNTY, WI -- A California woman is dead after authorities say she lost control of her vehicle, and crashed head-on into a box truck traveling on Highway 83 Wednesday afternoon.

Authorities responded to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 83 in the area of Glacier Pass in the Town of Delafield just after 12:20 p.m. after accident witnesses called 911.

When first responders arrived at the scene, they found a sport utility vehicle and a box truck both with severe damage. Authorities investigating the crash determined that the driver of the SUV, a 34-year-old California woman, had been severely injured. Despite lifesaving efforts by first responders, she died from injuries suffered in the accident.

The driver of the box truck, a 50-year-old man from Thiensville, did not have any apparent injuries, and remained at the scene, authorities said.

When authorities investigated the cause of the accident, they learned that the woman was driving north on Highway 83 when she lost control of her vehicle and struck the box truck that was heading south on Highway 83.

The Waukesha County Sheriff's office and Wisconsin State Patrol are continuing to investigate the crash.
