Waukesha Schools, City, County Buildings Close on Jan. 30

Waukesha area schools, and municipal court will be closed Wednesday due to the cold weather. Here's our list:

WAUKESHA, WI -- Bitterly-cold weather this week has forced the closure of numerous schools and agencies in Waukesha this week, including the Waukesha School District.

Here is a message posted Tuesday from Waukesha School District officials:

Tuesday evening: All events that begin or would normally end after 6 p.m. are canceled. After-school care programs that end before 6:00 p.m. would not have to be canceled.

Wednesday, all-day: All schools will be closed and no evening events will be taking place.

Thursday: The wind chill forecast for Thursday morning is not looking favorable, but being 48 hours from now, it is not 100 percent certain, per our most recent message from the National Weather Service. A final decision on Thursday will be made based on future forecasts.

Waukesha Municipal Court To Close, Cases Re-Scheduled

Waukesha County Executive Paul Farrow has declared a cold weather emergency from 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29 until 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31 due to a stretch of anticipated cold weather that has been described by the National Weather Service as historic.

All non-essential Waukesha County offices will be closed all day Wednesday, Jan. 30 and Thursday, Jan. 31, 2019.

As part of this closure, the Waukesha County Courthouse will be closed and all court matters will be rescheduled. County offices will reopen on Friday, Feb. 1, at 8 a.m.

All 24-hour operations such as the Communication Center, Jail, Mental Health Center and Sheriff’s Department are not affected by the closure and will maintain their regular schedule. More information is available at www.waukeshacounty.gov.

Waukesha City buildings will also be closed Wednesday. Here is a message we received from city officials Tuesday afternoon:

Due to the extreme cold and wind chill warning issued by the National Weather Service for our region, all non-essential City of Waukesha offices will be closed on Wednesday, January 30th and Thursday, January 31st.
