Deputy Charged In Illegal Strip Search Has Been Identified
The deputy was placed on paid administrative leave while the investigation was pending.

WAUKESHA COUNTY, WI — A Waukesha County Sheriff's deputy has been placed on administrative leave and is accused of conducting an illegal strip search on a person he arrested in Nov. 2017.
According to officials, the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Office learned that Waukesha County
Deputy Jeffrey Haren conducted a strip search within the confines of the Waukesha County Jail. Haren, a
nineteen-year veteran, assisted in a traffic stop in which an arrest of the occupants of the vehicle had been made.
According to officials, one of those who was arrested alleged that Haren conducted a strip search improperly at the Waukesha County Jail following that incident. Haren was placed on paid administrative leave while the investigation was pending.

Officials said the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Office contacted the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office to conduct an investigation into the incident. When that investigation was completed, the case was turned over to the Walworth County District Attorney’s Office for review and possible charges.
On March 23 the Walworth County District Attorney’s Office, acting as a special prosecutor in this matter, filed a charge of conducting an unauthorized strip search, according to officials. The Waukesha County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a separate internal investigation.
