WAUKESHA, WI — Dogs rescued from a South Korean meat farm are among the 50 new animals now taking shelter at the Waukesha Humane Animal Welfare Society.

According to a WTMJ report, a number of the dogs will be ready for adoption by this weekend, and a majority of them by the end of next week.

HAWS officials said the dogs were being treated and re-socialized after a lengthy plane flight into Waukesha Monday.

"A lot of the younger people are more westernized and look at animals as if they're more pets and they're not really being bred for the meat trade anymore," said Lynn Olenik, HAWS Executive Director to WTMJ 4.
