HAWS MARCHES INTO SPRING!
Waukesha animal resource center features small animal events, looks forward to pet walk

This month HAWS, the Humane Animal Welfare Society of Waukesha County, “marches” into spring with a Rally and a Fiesta, then looks ahead to a Romp!
HAWS presents the Rally for Rats on Sunday, March 6th, beginning at 1pm. Spend a day learning about these great little pets and share experiences with other rat fans at this FREE event! Featured topics and speakers are “Common Health Issues of Rats” with Dr. Jennifer Bloss, Brook-Falls Vet Hospital/Exotic Care and “Behavior, Bonding & Housing” with Sascha McCormick, President of The Rat Retreat and Rat Mom at the Regal Rat Sanctuary of WI. Almost one year to the day after the 300+ chinchillas were brought to HAWS it is time to reflect, learn more about this fascinating breed and share stories of the HAWS’ chinchilla alumni! HAWS’ free Chinchilla Fiesta features “Common Health Issues in Chinchillas” with Dr. April Wittenburg of Brook-Falls Vet Hospital/Exotic Care, and “Clicker Training for Chinchillas” with Kirsten Watry of HAWS’ Behavior Department. The event also includes a fundraising basket raffle and locally grown farm hay available for purchase. Details at hawspets.org.

It’s time to Romp ‘n Rally for HAWS! The Friends of HAWS 33rd annual party for pets and their people is set for Saturday, May 7th. Features include lure coursing, trail challenges, a huge vendor marketplace, live music, great food and prizes. Register by March 15th for VIP status, set up an online fundraising page and learn more about this great day in support of the HAWS cause at hawspets.org.
HAWS’ March calendar also features fun Mobile Adoption Center visits, Rabbit Hopping (agility for bunnies), “Pet”-icures for cats and small animals, a greyhound meet’n’greet with GPA-WI, “Saturday AM Recess” at Central Bark-Sussex, Puppy Parties every Sunday and a complete lineup of training classes.
