Inmate Dies In Waukesha County Jail: Report

The man was brought into the jail on June 23, 2018 and was being held on cash bail for felony-related offenses, officials said.

WAUKESHA COUNTY, WI — A 63-year-old inmate in the Waukesha County Jail has died, according to Waukesha County Sheriff's officials this week.

According to reports, on Thursday, June 28, at about 10:30 a.m., a 63 year old male from Sussex was found unconscious and not breathing in the jail. Lifesaving measures were attempted by the corrections staff until the City of Waukesha Fire Department arrived.

Sheriff's officials said that the man was later pronounced dead from an apparent suicide. The man was brought into the jail on June 23, 2018 and was being held on cash bail for felony-related offenses.

Officials in Waukesha County have requested the assistance of the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office to conduct the investigation.

At this time the matter remains under investigation by the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office. The man's identity will be released at a later date, according to officials.
