Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald said they've recovered more than one gun at the residence, including one that resembled the one used at the scene the night Jayme's parents were shot and killed.
"We will have to wait for confirmation," Fitzgerald said.
Investigators are trying to figure out how Patterson made contact with Jayme. Fitzgerald said Patterson had changed his physical appearance, shaved his head to avoid leaving DNA behind.
"I know all of you are searching for the reason why any of this happened," Fitzgerald said. "Believe me, so are we."
Authorities are conducting a search warrant at Patterson's residence in Gordon and will be there throughout the evening, Fitzgerald said Friday afternoon.
