
Reminders for pet owners: Pets are required to have an updated license in January – check with your municipality for details. Keep pets safely indoors when the temperatures dip, other than for potty breaks or very short walks. Clean salt off sensitive paw pads and check ears for frostbite!
HAWS once again joins the County-wide fun of JanBoree: Come to the shelter for the PAW-jammin’ Party and “Chili” Night Luminary Walk on Saturday, January 16th from 1–6pm! This FREE event features all-day adoption specials, pet contests, behind-the-scenes shelter tours, raffle baskets, hot beverages and more! A scavenger hunt, snowdog building contest and other activities for kids run from 1-4pm; from 4-6pm, luminaries will showcase HAWS’ walking trails – get a glow-collar, explore, make s’mores and play, then warm up with a chili and grilled cheese supper. Pets are DEFINITELY welcome, but should be secured in a carrier or on a 6’ leash for safety.

HAWS’ Winter Symposium is Saturday, January 16th from 9am–3pm at LilyWorks Conference Center. Featuring speakers Melissa Shelton, DVM and Sue Howell, DVM, topics include essential oils, nutrition and yoga therapy for pets. Registration is required; details at hawspets.org.
