New Berlin Eisenhower to Host Swim Sectional for First Time in Years at Brand New Pool Nov. 5
New Berlin Eisenhower will host a Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association Division 2 swimming sectional Saturday, Nov. 5, at 1 p.m.

The School District of New Berlin is excited to announce that the brand new New Berlin Eisenhower pool will be host to a Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association Division 2 swimming sectional Saturday, Nov. 5, beginning at 1 p.m.
The Eisenhower pool officially opened in August following a $2.1 million renovation. The project included the widening of the pool from six lanes to eight and the deepening of the entire pool, including the diving well. Renovations brought the Eisenhower pool up to the requirements needed to host WIAA-sponsored events. Additionally, the new pool is now ADA compliant, and features a new HVAC system, new bleachers and a new scoreboard.
The previous iteration of the pool was 50 years old. It could not be used for swimming events because it was too shallow; swimmers could not use the starting blocks.

“We’re extremely proud to host a meet of this magnitude at New Berlin Eisenhower,” said Kevin Fitzgerald, Eisenhower’s Director of Athletics & Activities. “Our student-athletes, coaches, and swim community have waited years for a ‘home’ pool, and the opportunity to host a meet as important as a WIAA sectionals will be a great way to showcase our facility.”
Both New Berlin high school swim teams – host Eisenhower and West – will compete in the meet, along with Woodland Conference rivals Cudahy, Greendale, Pewaukee, Shorewood, Wauwatosa West and Whitnall. Teams from Delavan-Darien, Elkhorn Area, Fort Atkinson, Whitefish Bay and Whitewater will also attend.

Winners at each event, as well as the 12 best swim times (point totals for diving) in each event, will qualify for the WIAA Division 2 State Meet, held at the University of Wisconsin Natatorium in Madison, Friday and Saturday, Nov. 11-12.
“We’re excited to have swim fans from all over the area come cheer on these impressive student-athletes,” Fitzgerald added. “We also hopeful that New Berlin community members come out to see our beautiful new facility and support both the Lions and Vikings.”
Tickets for the sectional will be $5 and available at the door. Concessions will also be available.
Since the pool’s grand opening Aug. 8, the facility has been used nearly every day by the high school swim team, physical education classes, and community swim groups.
