Obituary: Karen A. Washburn

Iola woman graduated from Waukesha South High School in 1965.

Karen A. Washburn, of Iola, formerly of Waukesha, died on Monday, April 22, 2013, at Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield at the age of 65 years.

She was born in Watertown on September 14, 1947 the daughter of Delmar and Arlene (nee Smith) Krueger. She was a 1965 graduate of Waukesha South High School. Karen worked for the School District of Waukesha at White Rock School for 25 years as a custodian. On February 16, 1991 she married Harold Washburn in Waukesha.  Karen enjoyed fishing as long as someone would bait and take off the fish.  She was also an avid Farmville player on Facebook, making sure she collected her crops before she would go anywhere.  She was a very proud mother and grandmother who enjoyed telling people about her son’s lawn business and how much her daughter had achieved. 

She will be sadly missed by her husband Harold of Iola, her son Shawn (Tammy) Clendenning and her daughter Heather Olsvewski  her grandchildren: Brady, Nick, Luke, Eric, Simon, Gracie and Maridith.  She is further survived by her brother and sisters: Tony, Terry, Patrick, Michael, Carol and Angela Spice along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 26, 2013 from 4 p.m. until the 7 p.m. funeral service at the Randle-Dable-Brisk Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Avenue, Waukesha.  Graveside services will take place on Saturday, April 27, at noon at Hillcrest Cemetery in Endeavor, WI. If desired, memorials are appreciated to American Cancer Society.
