Paul Hamm Plans to Compete for Spot on National Gymnastics Team

Paul Hamm, a graduate, is expected to compete in the 2012 World Cup Challenge in Las Vegas Feb. 2-4 as he attempts to secure a position on the U.S. Men’s gymnastics team.

Ninety-one men are competing for eight positions on the national team, according to a news release.

Hamm won the all-around gymnastics competition in the 2004 Olympics and won a silver medal in the team competition and a silver in the parallel bars. 

Hamm graduated from Ohio State in 2007. He attempted a comeback in 2008 for the Olympics in Beijing but an injury kept him from competing in the last summer Olympics. Hamm announced in 2010 that he wanted to compete in the 2012 Olympics.
