The plane was significantly damaged, according to police. It hit some trees, lost its wings and spilled 300 gallons of jet fuel, requiring the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources to come to the scene, WISN 12 reported.

The aircraft made an emergency landing, according to the Humane Animal Welfare Society of Waukesha, which reported the dogs on board were at-risk adoptable animals being transported from the south to the Waukesha shelter and several partner organizations.
