Retired Police Captain Dies at Age 78

Richard "Dick" Sader passed away at Waukesha Memorial Hospital

Retired Capt. Richard D. β€œDick” Sader, of Waukesha, unexpectedly died on Sunday, March 4, 2012, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital, at the age of 78.

Dick was born on Jan. 29, 1934, the son of Reuben and Caroline Sader. He married Rosalie on June 16, 1956. Dick proudly joined the Waukesha Police Department in April of 1960.Β  In mid-1964 he was promoted to detective, and then to lieutenant in June of 1979. In 1985 Dick was promoted to captain and served until his retirement on Sept. 11, 1987.

He was a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police and was an honorary member of the FBI National Academy.Β  Dick enjoyed golfing, his four-legged friend, Andy, and spending time with his family. Β He proudly served his country in the United States Navy.

Dick will be dearly missed by his wife, Rosalie; children, Renee (Michael) Hedtcke, Jacqueline Sader and Michael Sader; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; those he served with at the Waukesha Police Department; and many other relatives and friends. Β He is preceded in death by his parents.

The visitation for Dick will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the noon funeral service on Friday, March 9, 2012, at Mt. Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1941 Madison St., Waukesha, WI 53188. Β Burial with full Military Honors will immediately follow the service at Prairie Home Cemetery, Waukesha.
