Ryan Braun: Washington Nationals Trade Target?

Braun's name being mentioned as possible trade target for team with struggling outfield corps.

According to an article published on District on Deck, a site that exclusively covers Washington Nationals baseball in the nation's capitol, they have learned that the Nationals are being floated as a possible suitor for Brewer outfielder Ryan Braun by the July 31 trade deadline.

In an article written by Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports and MLB Network on Tuesday, he said that Braun would be one of the players that would make sense for the Nats:

“The Brewers’ Ryan Braun would make sense for the Nats; so would a number of other outfielders.” (h/t Rosenthal, FOX Sports)

Braun is on pace to have a stellar in Milwaukee as he is hitting .380 with seven home runs, 27 RBI’s, and a .444 on-base percentage: numbers that beg the question whether the 32-year-old left fielder is rounding back into his MVP-era form.

For a trade to happen, however, a lot of things would have to go just right: Although the group isn't performing up to expectations, the Nationals have enough outfielders signed through 2017. The Brewers have Braun under team control until after the 2021 season and still has $76 million left on the deal after this year, and the Nationals are one of the teams that Braun would have to approve a trade to go to.
