Schooling Options to Fit Diverse Needs

The school year is in full swing. Many children in our area are enrolled in a traditional school setting and doing quite well – thriving. Yet it’s not uncommon at this point in the year for some parents to begin wondering if there are other education choices available that could better meet their children’s needs.

Parents explore alternative schooling options for a variety of reasons. Common reasons include the need for non-traditional schedules, an appetite for self-paced learning and a desire to circumvent bullying.

Charter schools encourage innovation and creativity in their approach to providing additional educational options for parents and their children. Charter schools are all unique in their mission and offer various programming such as environmental education, engineering, fine arts, Montessori education - to name a few.

Virtual charter schools

Virtual schools, such as Wisconsin Connections Academy, allow children to learn from the comfort of their home, without the added pressure on parents to act as the primary instructor. Instruction is delivered by certified teachers. Virtual school students complete the same standards based curriculum and state standardized tests as students at traditional schools.
