Serving Aces & Cleaner Spaces: The 13th Annual Tennis Tournament and Highway Clean-Up Returns

The Kelly Johnson Foundation is excited for another year of the Adopt-A-Highway Clean-Up and the 13th Annual Johnson Summer Classic.

WAUKESHA & WAUWATOSA, WISCONSIN – The Kelly Johnson Foundation brings a double dose of community spirit to Wisconsin in a two-event weekend.

These two events will be held between Friday, July 17th and Saturday, July 18th this 2026 summer.

Kicking off the weekend is the 3rd Annual Adopt-A-Highway Clean Up, which will take place Friday, July 17th from 1:00pm - 3:30pm CST at S 164 East Ave, Waukesha, WI.
KJF owns a section of the S East Ave highway and in 2024, the Foundation launched an initiative to keep it clean, aiming to promote an eco-conscious lifestyle and preserve the surrounding environment. This event is welcome to all volunteers who like to lend a helping hand while making a difference in the local community.

Kelly is eager to work on this project again, saying, “As we head into 2026, it’s incredible to see how this event has grown from a single tournament into a full weekend dedicated to sport and community connection. Each year, we’re building something that extends far beyond the court.”

The sponsors of this event are Harlo and Run Gum. Kelly Johnson thanks these brands saying, “We’re appreciative for the continued support of our sponsors, partners, and volunteers who help bring this weekend to life. Their commitment allows us to elevate the experience each year and extend our reach in the community.”
Trash bags, safety yellow volunteer vests, plastic gloves, and snacks will be provided for all volunteers.

After the cleanup is the highly anticipated, USTA-sanctioned, 13th Annual Johnson Summer Classic, a USTA-sanctioned, adult, tennis tournament that will be benefiting the Kelly Johnson Foundation, a non-profit organization that aims to give back to schools and communities while encouraging individual’s goals and passions. The tennis rally will take place at Wauwatosa West High School in Wauwatosa (11400 W Center St, Milwaukee, WI 53222). The tournament may be a two-day event, starting Friday, July 17th at 5:00pm if needed, and continuing through Saturday, July 18th from 12:00pm to 5:00pm CST.

For the 13th anniversary, players can choose from (12) divisions: Men’s Singles (NTRP 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5), Men’s Doubles (Combo NTRP 8.0, 9.0), Women’s Doubles (Combo NTRP 8.0), Women’s Singles (NTRP 3.0, 3.5 & 4.0), Mixed Doubles (Combo NTRP 8.0, 9.0). Trophies will be presented to the winner in each division, and a sportsmanship award will also go to one player. Spectators and volunteers are welcome to attend and cheer on the players!

Tickets for this tournament are $42 per singles player or $25 per doubles player per event ($50 per doubles team event), and all proceeds go towards the (2026) Johnson Family Scholarship, awarded to high school seniors with leadership qualities and great ambitions.

The Johnson Summer Classic is one of the longest running events of KJF. Kelly shows her enthusiasm and shock for the tournament’s growing and continued success, saying, “Can't believe it's our 12th year hosting the Johnson Summer Classic! Looking forward to providing opportunities for participants, spectators, and supporters to get involved with the Kelly Johnson Foundation and share their love for the sport.”

The Kelly Johnson Foundation is proud to announce its new line of sponsors for the event including Sweeney’s Gym, Karma, Run Gum, and our new Ball Sponsor Head/Penn.

The nonprofit is thrilled to continue its partnerships with Recycleballs, where people can recycle tennis balls after the tournament. KJF is also partnering with Second Serve, another nonprofit that donates gently used tennis gear to youth tennis players in need. There will be a box on-site to collect donations.

Beyond the competitive play, there are opportunities to help with running the tournament on the 12th including set-up duties and event photographers. These are both fantastic opportunities to build your resume, get community service hours, and to have more fun than what one should have while volunteering.
