WAUKESHA, WI — Donors to the Salvation Army's Red Kettle Campaign have now given $796,000, putting the not-for-profit charity in Waukesha County "within very real striking distance of our $800,000 goal," said Major Timothy Nauta in a statement to Patch.
Gifts help provide vital funding for youth Summer Day Camp and After School programs; the largest men's emergency shelter in Waukesha County with 50 beds; the hot, free, Community Meals program that serves the hungry three nights each week; the large public food pantry; the Womens Ministry's Community Cares program that makes weekly visits to Waukesha County nursing homes; the social service program Pathway of Hope, the Emergency Disaster Response program, among others.
The local Waukesha County Salvation Army was founded over 125-years ago in Spring of 1894, and is located at 445 Madison Street, in Waukesha. Volunteers and financial support are needed throughout the year. More information is available at the website, WaukeshaSalvationArmy.org.
