Tornado Warnings Issued Across Southeast Wisconsin

WAUKESHA, WI — Multiple tornado warnings were issued Friday evening across southeast Wisconsin as severe storms moved through the region, including parts of Waukesha and Walworth counties.

One warning covered communities including Pewaukee, Waukesha, New Berlin, and Genesee Depot, while another extended across areas such as Burlington, Waterford, and Spring Prairie.

The National Weather Service said storms were capable of producing tornadoes along with damaging winds and hail. In some cases, hail up to quarter size was possible.

Earlier in the evening, a confirmed tornado was reported near Delavan, moving east at about 30 mph, according to the National Weather Service.

The storms are part of a broader severe weather system impacting southeast Wisconsin, where forecasters warned that tornadoes can develop quickly within fast-moving thunderstorms.

Residents in warned areas were urged to take shelter immediately.

Officials recommend moving to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building and avoiding windows. Those outdoors or in vehicles should seek the nearest substantial shelter.

A tornado watch remains in effect for much of southeast Wisconsin Friday evening.
