Authorities Identify U-Haul Truck Driver Who Died In I-94 Crash

The 48-year-old man who was driving the U-Haul truck was traveling west on I-94 and rear-ended the semi-tractor trailer unit.

JACKSON COUNTY, WI —The Wisconsin State Patrol is reporting that a 48-year-old man is dead after a two-vehicle accident happened on I-94 in Jackson County near Black River Falls just after 3 a.m.

On Thursday afternoon, they identified the deceased as Durry Jemal Kennedy, a 48-year-old man from San Antonio Texas.

Authorities have also identified the driver of the vehicle that ended up colliding with Kennedy's vehicle Barry Berry, the driver of a 2007 Freightliner 999, and a 59-year-old man from Jersey City, New Jersey. The State Patrol is reporting that there is the possibility that charges may be forwarded to the Jackson County District Attorney's office pending the completion of the accident investigation.

According to the Wisconsin State Patrol, officers responded to a crash involving a U-Haul box truck and semi-tractor trailer unit. The 48-year-old man who was driving the U-Haul truck was traveling west on I-94 and rear-ended the semi-tractor trailer unit. Officers on-scene reported that the driver of the U-Haul truck was fatally injured.

The crash remains under investigation by the Wisconsin State Patrol. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department and Black River Falls Fire Department assisted the Wisconsin State Patrol. The name of the U-Haul truck driver is being withheld pending notification of family.
