Walking for a new "Ride" at HAWS!

HAWS, the Humane Animal Welfare Society of Waukesha County, announces the 31st Annual Pet Walk on May 3rd to benefit the Waukesha shelter. Running from 9am - 2pm at Sussex Village Park, the event’s fundraising goal is $40,000 to help purchase a new Animal Rescue Van.

Along with the Walk, the day features something for everyone – pets and their people – including:

9:00  Blessing of the Animals
9:15 Award presentation: Youth Community Kindness Award
9:30 – 9:45  Doggy Olympics begins with the High Jump event
10:30 – 11:00  Treibball demonstration
11:00 – 11:15  Parade of HAWS adoptable pets
Noon – 12:30  Bobbing for hot dogs
12:30 – 1:00  Musical Dog Mats (musical chairs for dogs)
1:00 – 1:30  Doggy Olympics: Tunnel Time and Triathlon (Sit/Rollover/Stay)


HAWS staff and local animal experts will also present “Snippets” – 15 minute talks featuring important info and question/answer sessions – including:
9:30 – 9:45  Why harnesses are a good choice for your dog’s comfort
9:45 – 10:00  Dog Park Etiquette
11:00 – 11:15  Featured breed, German Shepherds and the German Shepherd Dog Club
11:30 – 11:45  Animal careers – Vet Assistant, Vet Technician
11:45 – noon  Upcoming Pet Blood Drives for the Wisconsin Veterinary Referral Center
Noon – 12:15  Dog Bite Prevention

Registration forms, Walk details and online fundraising page links are available at hawspets.org. HAWS’ annual Pet Walk is sponsored and presented by the Friends of HAWS; 100% of donations collected for the Walk are given directly to HAWS for animal care, programs and life-saving services.
