Waukesha County Calls For Volunteer Drivers
The Department of Health and Human Services is seeking volunteers to transport meals to older adults or drive HHS clients to appointments.

Waukesha County Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) seeks individuals who have interest in helping their fellow citizens through participation in the Volunteer Driver Program. Drivers with interest in volunteering to transport meals to older adults and/or drive HHS clients to vital appointments must have a good driving record, vehicle insurance, a regular driverβs license, and a reliable personal vehicle.

Home-Delivered Meals Drivers: In Waukesha County, homebound adults age 60+ are able to receive a hot meal delivered to their home five-days-a-week by a volunteer driver. Each hot meal is provided by the ADRC of Waukesha County and meets a minimum one-third of the Daily Recommended Intake for seniors. This valuable nutritional service helps older adults remain independent in their own homes. Volunteer Drivers deliver hot meals throughout the county Monday β Friday, 11 a.m. β 1 p.m., excluding holidays.
Client Transportation Drivers: Individuals who are clients of programs offered by HHS and who do not have access to local transportation resources may be able to receive transportation to vital appointments such as medical, educational, foster care and other family-stability services. This transportation program helps HHS clients maintain their well-being and access to important services. Volunteer Drivers transport clients throughout the week, Monday β Friday, 7 a.m. β 8 p.m.

The HHS Volunteer Program Specialist educates each volunteer on the need to maintain HHS client confidentiality and determines volunteerβs driving preferences including time-of-day, frequency, and desired area to drive within the county and surrounding communities. The driving program is not limited to one volunteer in a vehicle. Individuals may volunteer as a team of two.
Mileage reimbursement, flexible scheduling, and ongoing training and support are all perks of being a Volunteer Driver for the Waukesha County Department of Health and Human Services.
