Waukesha West Student Completes Senate Scholar Program​

High school juniors and seniors from around Wisconsin participated in a week-long, intensive program at the State Capitol.

MADISON, WI -- Waukesha West High School student Daniel Harmon completed the 2019 Wisconsin State Sen. Scholar Program, State Sen. Chris Kapenga (R-Delafield) said this week.

High school juniors and seniors from around Wisconsin participated in a week-long, intensive program at the State Capitol. While in the program, Daniel was introduced to many facets of the legislative process.

Harmon met with legislative support agencies, legislative staff, the Governor’s staff, a Supreme Court Justice, the media, lobbyists and University of Wisconsin-Madison faculty members.

When the State Senate was on the floor, Harmon staffed the session under the direction of the Senate Sergeant at Arms’ office. This week’s events culminated in a Senate Scholar committee hearing on a bill that Harmon helped draft.
