United Way Connects the Community to Volunteer Opportunities

(June 18, 2014)—United Way in Waukesha County would like to invite volunteers to the following volunteer opportunities:

Education Support - Waukesha

There are endless opportunities in the Education Department for volunteers. As a tour guide at the Museum, you'll be offering children and adults an exciting view of history and a new understanding of our community. Do background research or assist with craft preparations for various programs. Volunteers are an integral part of the Waukesha County Historical Society & Museum. Volunteers assist in all areas of Museum operations. The work is not hard, only rewarding! All needed information and training is provided and schedules are flexible.

Help Make Happy and Healthy Smiles – Waukesha County

Volunteer dentists, dental assistants, dental hygienists and others are needed and all are welcome to help us. As a volunteer, you will be helping to provide dental services to those who are less fortunate and who have not been able to afford dental care. The WCCDC dental team is experienced, friendly, accommodating, willing to assist volunteers; making the experience stress free. The work environment is meticulous, complete with state of the art technology. Low income families tend to have higher rates of tooth decay and have greater difficulty accessing ongoing basic dental care. Low income families in Waukesha County are not immune to this problem.

Special Needs Teacher’s Assistant – Menomonee Falls

Are you passionate about working with children with special needs? If so, please come join the team at Children’s Community Center. Children’s Community Center is a full inclusion preschool and childcare center located in Menomonee Falls. As a full inclusion center we are looking for adults to volunteer in our classrooms to help provide a one on one opportunity for a child with special needs. Often, when children with special needs receive one on one time they are better able to get their needs met and be successful throughout their day. As a volunteer some of your responsibilities would include: playing with children, helping a child to complete an activity, interacting with the child at circle time, encouraging participation in gross motor activities, assisting with snack or meal time, or providing a break for a child.

Office Support - Pewaukee

Office Support Volunteers assist with organizational and clerical tasks at the hospice office to allow our staff more time to provide patient care. Projects may include assisting with mailings, putting together informational packets, community outreach, patient recognition activities and occasional basic data entry & computer tasks. Volunteers can work as their schedule permits during regular business hours: Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Requirements: Reliable volunteers must be at least 16 years old and complete on-site orientation and training. Previous office experience is not required.
