United Way Connects the Community to Volunteer Opportunities

(June 11, 2014)—United Way in Waukesha County would like to invite volunteers to the following volunteer opportunities:

Habitat for Humanity - Waukesha
Habitat for Humanity of Waukesha County is opening a ReStore! Our ReStore, scheduled to open in later summer 2014, will fund additional affordable homes in Waukesha County, while encouraging environmental responsibility, recycling, and providing affordable access to home and construction needs.Volunteers are needed to help in the warehouse, with donation pick-ups, completing administrative work, as well as shelf-stocking, cashiering, and updating the website. All volunteers will be trained for their opportunities, as appropriate. ReStore volunteers must be at least 14, with an adult present, or at least 16 to work without an adult.

Elmbrook Humane Society – Brookfield
Mark your calendars -- Elmbrook Humane Society's Thank Dog Its Friday (TDIF) is scheduled for Friday, July 18th from 5:30-8:30! There are a variety of volunteer needs for this event that are split into 2 shifts, 5p-7p and 7p-9p. Volunteer opportunities include set up, grilling, selling food and beverages, lure course and take down of the event. This is a really fun event for the public and their dogs and is always a good time! Volunteers who wish to volunteer their time for TDIF must be able to stand for long periods of time.

Baby Buddies Playgroup - Waukesha
Come volunteer with us during our mom and baby playgroup!! During the playgroup you will have the opportunity to model positive parent/child interactions, offer support and encouragement, educate....and ultimately impact our clients lives in a huge way! Before volunteering an interview, background check and brief orientation is necessary. All volunteers must be 18 years or older.

Participant Picnic – Waukesha
Please join us in making this summer's picnic the best ever! We could use your talent and energy to help run the games, activities and help with lunch. Our past volunteers always get such enjoyment out of this event and leave with a smile on their face! Volunteers will be treated to lunch and refreshments. Volunteers must enjoy dealing with people, especially those with disabilities. Those under 14 years of age need adult supervision. This is a great opportunity for groups, families and individuals. Friday July 11, 2014 8:30am - 2:30pm
