2018 Cancer Crush To Help Fight Cancer, Governor To Attend

Organizers say that Cancer Crush was started to support the most promising research and most effective treatments for cancer.

WAUWATOSA, WI -- In Milwaukee County, one out of every 2.6 people is expected to develop cancer in their lifetime, and more than 1,600 people in Milwaukee County will likely die from cancer this year, according to the Medical College of Wisconsin.

To help fight cancer, the Medical College of Wisconsin and Froedtert & MCW health network will host its first-ever Cancer Crush, on Sept. 22, 2018, with a one or five-mile run/walk.

The run/walk will kick-off and end on the MCW campus and will take participants through the Milwaukee County grounds. The event will feature local speakers in addition to Wauwatosa Mayor Kathy Ehley and Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker.

Details of the event:

Saturday, Sept. 22, 8:30-10:30 a.m.
  • 8-8:30 a.m.: Milwaukee Bucks mascot, Bango and the Hoop Troup.
  • 8:20 a.m.: Dynamic warm-up Opening ceremony .
  • 8:45-8:48 a.m.: Wauwatosa Mayor Kathy Ehley.
  • 8:48-8:51 a.m.: Dr. John R. Raymond.
  • 8:51-8:57 a.m.: Governor Scott Walker and First Lady Tonette Walker countdown to start and release the 5-mile runners.
  • 10:20 a.m.: Awards program to announce top finishers and top fundraisers.
  • The run/walk will kick-off and end on the MCW campus and will take participants through the Milwaukee County grounds.
