To further enhance customer service, the City will be upgrading the Citizen Self Service Portal, which allows management of water utility accounts, during the week of October 4. As a result, the look of the portal will change and some users may need to re-register their accounts. The Citizen Self Service Portal offers a wide range of features to help you manage bills, payments, and other aspects of your account.

The Citizen Self Service Portal offers a number of new features that make managing water utility accounts and making payments easier and more convenient.

- Link and manage water accounts
- Convenient payment options without additional fees
- One-time or recurring credit card payments with no convenience fee
- Checking or savings account
- Electronic Funds Transfer
- Automatic payments
- Please note: If you had an existing payment schedule with us, you will need to setup a payment schedule in this new system.
- Request a change of address
- Manage bill delivery and paperless billing
- See past bills, payments, and usage
How Do I Access the Citizen Self Service Portal?
Visit theΒ Citizen Self Service Portal and look for the link to the Login Page under the Getting Started section. If you already have an account, enter your credentials to sign in, otherwise click the link to register for a new account.
After logging in, you will need to link a water account.Β To link a water account, you will need your old account number (which can be found on a past water bill) and house number. If you know your old account number, you canΒ look up your new account number online. If you do not know your old account number, contact the Water Business Office:Β water@wauwatosa.netΒ or (414) 479-8963.
Will I Still Receive a Printed Bill in the Mail?
All customers will continue to receive printed water bills in the mail unless they have previously requested e-mail only. Signing up for the Citizen Self Service Portal will allow you to choose paper, e-mail, or both, but is not required if you wish to continue receiving and paying your bills by mail only. If you would like to sign up for e-mail billing but do not want to create a Portal account at this time, please e-mail the Water Department.
Ways to Pay a Water Bill
- If you receive a paper bill, you can return the enclosed envelope with your check, including your account and customer numbers
- Using bill pay through your bank
- Pay online
- Direct debit, recurring credit card, or one-time payment options available
- There are no longer separate convenience fees
- At the Treasurerβs Counter at City Hall (7725 W North Avenue) between 8 am - 4:30 pm
- At the secure payment depository at City Hall across from the blue mail box, by the employee entrance
- Please note that water payments can no longer be processed over the phone
When is My Bill Due?
Bills are sent out quarterly on or before the 1st of the month. Typically, water bills are due on the 20th of the month. For customers receiving a bill in November 2020, there is a slight delay in the mailing of water bills. Customers will still have 20 days from when they receive a bill to pay the water bill.
