Court Says 'No' To Wauwatosa Schools Conference Realignment Injunction
The district wanted Wauwatosa East and West High Schools to be placed in the Woodland Conference. The WIAA and the Court are saying "no."

WAUWATOSA -- A Milwaukee Circuit Court ruled against the Wauwatosa School District Monday, jeopardizing their hopes of competing in the Woodland Conference.
According to a report by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Dennis Moroney denied the district’s request for a temporary injunction on the conference realignment plan for southeast Wisconsin that is scheduled to take effect at the start of the 2017-'18 school year.
Now, Wauwatosa East and West High Schools will be competing in the Greater Metro conference, which district officials said presented competitive balance issues for Wauwatosa East athletes.

The Wauwatosa School Board had filed an injunction against the WIAA in Milwaukee County Circuit court, over the WIAA's controversial conference realignment plan earlier this summer.
According to a report by Wauwatosa NOW, district officials felt Wauwatosa was among the districts seeking relief from the current conference alignment in the first place, but Wauwatosa feels its two high schools (West and East) were left in even worse positions following the changes.
Board Approved Realignment in April
After nearly two years of negotiations - at times heated - the WIAA approved a sweeping high school conference realignment set to take place in the 2017-18 school year.
Wauwatosa hoped to be placed in one conference, only to be placed in another. Read below to see how the realignment affects both 'Tosa East and West.
According to an article by the Journal Sentinel, that vote was angst-ridden and passed by a 7-4 margin after an appeal hearing of nearly 90 minutes.
The vote may be final, however the WIAA board gave affected schools the chance to submit an alternative plan if the plan had support from all the other affected schools.
Wauwatosa East/West (Greater Metro/Woodland): Hoped to be placed together in the Woodland, but will play in the GMC instead.
