Here are a few ways to volunteer and make a difference in our community.
Volunteer Milwaukee, a service of the Nonprofit Center of Milwaukee features both one-time and ongoing volunteer opportunities in our community. Here are a few ways to help this summer.
- Greenwish Village at Irish Fest - Bring environmental education to Irish Fest attendees; help with set-up, arts & crafts or games August 18-20 for Keep Greater Milwaukee Beautiful. Sign up here or contact betsy@kgmb.org.
- Nursing Opportunity - Use your professional nursing skills to help poor and uninsured residents of Waukesha Co. obtain medical services Mon. and Thurs. evenings or Wed. mornings. Contact St. Joseph's Medical Clinic at info@sjmdc.net or 262-544-6777.
- Connect Through Creativity - Co-facilitate a story telling group in memory care, assisted living or skilled nursing using Time Slips program; 3 hour online training. Contact St. Camillus/San Camillo at lbartelt@stcam.com or 414-259-4610.
- Serve Dinner at the Shelter - Prepare and serve dinner for 40 women and their children Mon., Tues. or Wed.; ideal for individuals, families or groups of up to 10. Contact Milwaukee Women's Center at jkavanaugh@communityadvocates.net or (414) 270-2984.
- Hospice Companion - Visit with and provide companionship to hospice patients and/or provide respite for family members; training provided. Contact Aseracare Hospice at melanie.burns@aseracare.com or 262-785-1356.
- Run/Walk to Milwaukee's Irish Fest- Register participants, help along route, hand our water and food Run/Walk to Milwaukee's Irish Fest Saturday, August 19. Contact Arthritis Foundation at jblatz@arthritis.org or 414-239-6165.
