Teen Tragedy: 17-Year-Old and 19-Year-Old Both Dead; Victims Identified

The second of two shooting victims has died in the tragic West Allis shootings. Police have identified the victims. It was during a robbery.

WEST ALLIS, WI — A 14-year-old has been arrested after a 19-year-old was shot and killed after gunfire erupted in West Allis on Sunday morning. A 17-year-old was also shot, and died Tuesday, according to authorities.

The 17 year old victim is identified as Tarjan E. Edwards of West Allis. The 19-year-old victim has been identified as Croshian Xaviere –Romaine Edwards, Jr. of West Allis.

According to a CBS 58 report today, the two victims were shot during the course of an attempted robbery by the 14-year-old. He was accompanied by a 13-year-old who is not implicated in the shooting.

The Shooting

According to police, the fatal shooting happened at about 10 a.m. on the 2100 block of 89th St. near Grant St. in West Allis.

The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner was called to the scene to investigate, and determined that a 19-year-old died as a result of the shooting. According to the Medical Examiner's office, the shooting is being considered a homicide.

A second shooting victim, a 17-year-old, was transported to Froedtert Hospital. The extent of injuries in not currently known.

According to a Journal Sentinel report, the 14-year-old, who is considered a suspect in the crime, was arrested inside his home just after 2 p.m. Sunday.

The Standoff

After news of the shooting reached authorities, a standoff ensued, as police from surrounding municipalities shut down traffic in the area, established a perimeter and surrounded the house.

According to a FOX 6 report, their cameras were rolling as a woman carried an infant out of the home 14-year-old's home and headed to safety in a church next door. Police said the 14-year-old murder suspect eventually came out of the home with his hands in the air.
