Richard E. Carter: geographer, aviator, naturalist, essayist, poet.  Carter has spoken with the mature voice of one who has made the journey to a personal sense of place on the earth and deep connections with its forces and creatures. His life path has led from a career in city planning back into the natural world, from where he invites readers to share his vision and adventures.

Carter's writing is accompanied by the lyrical pencil drawings of wife/artist Carolyn Kenney-Carter, as in his other books--Cabin Fever, an earlier volume of nature essays, and Inside and Out, a recent collection of poetry. Among Richard Carter's other writing awards are both the Jade Ring and First Place in the Al P. Nelson contest of the Wisconsin Regional Writers' Association.

Copies of the book will be available for purchase and signing after the program.
