As area students soon head back to school, many parents and students may be curious to see how their school district and school stacks up against others in the suburbs. With that in mind, Niche.com has again released its annual rankings of best schools and school district in Wisconsin.
This year, Whitefish Bay High School claims the state's top rankings, and Racine Prairie School shoots up the rankings to number two.

1) Whitefish Bay High School
Senior: By far the greatest thing about Whitefish Bay High School is the teachers. As someone who switched schools in Junior year of high school, believe me when I tell you that switching to Bay when I was given the chance was the best decision I have ever made,.

2) The Prairie School
Senior: I began my journey here as a sophomore, which was nothing short of a challenge. However, the community greeted me with a warm welcome, so I knew I was in the right place.
3) Homestead High School
Parent: The school offers a variety of honors and AP courses. Teachers that teach those courses are EXCELLENT, very engaging, fair, challenging, and know the students really well.
4) Nicolet High School
Senior: My experience is great at Nicolet High School. Most teachers genuinely care about you and are willing to help, even if you don't ask for it. The curriculum is very strong in most departments.
5) Madison West High School
Niche User: It is the best public high school in Madison with an illustrious alumni including actors, authors, educators, and politicians. Past Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle is a graduate of West High! They prepared me to succeed in college.
6) Brookfield East High School
Niche User: Brookfield East High School is a wonderful school, and at a point was ranked #1 in the nation. The staff is lovely, students are friendly, and the environment is very learning oriented.
7) Middleton High School
Niche User: Although the school lacks in diversity, the students make up for it with their willingness to be open minded of other cultures and backgrounds.
8) Shorewood High School
High School Senior: This school has its ups and down like every school. There are a handful of things that I'd like to change about the school and more the people in it.
9) Madison Memorial High School
Senior: The school is average. Okay funding, okay teachers. The teachers are sometimes disorganized and teach according to no visible curriculum, but it is a good school.
10) Brookfield Central High School
High School Senior: This school is a great suburban high school. What I love about it is that it has block scheduling. So, you only have four classes a day but they are 90 minutes each.
11) Divine Savior Holy Angels High School
Senior: My experience at DSHA has taught me the four critical values they inspire us to be: a critical thinker, a believer, a leader, and a communicator. The teachers are amazing, fun to work with, and very helpful when academic assistance is needed.
12) Marquette University High School
Review: As for the academics, you cannot even compare. MUHS prepares students (incl. myself) so well that yes, college IS ACTUALLY EASIER. The teachers put a lot of work and deadlines on the students but it teaches them time management and discipline!
13) Cedarburg High School
High School Senior: Cedarburg is a school where you can connect with your teachers, not only academically. I personally have had multiple teachers that I know I will miss when I leave for college.
14) Madison Country Day School
Niche User: There is a wonderful, warm community feeling about the school, from the positive, joyful, purposeful engagement of teachers and students to the way parents support it. It's very international and diverse, but everyone feels welcomed and and engaged.
15) Arrowhead High School
Alum: Past alum from Arrowhead High School. Overall, as a past student, I liked it here. Quality education that helped me earn 25 AP credits towards college and an additional 16 retroactive credits from Spanish.
16) Wayland Academy
Alum: Ok. look. its a great school but it does have its flaws, it doesnt have great people, students, that is. not the teachers. teachers were great.
17) Greendale High School
Senior: Greendale High School is one of the best school in the state of wisconsin according to Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. I am proud of being a student of Greendale high school. What I love about Greendale high school is the facilitiy and the teachers. The Facilitiy is very friendly and understanding. I Love Greendale high school the most by the way of understanding, helping others, making new friends, and being as one big family.
18) Edgewood High School of the Sacred Heart
Sophomore: The academics are especially strong, people take courses that challenge them. Whether that be double math classes, or several AP courses. Yes, there are shenanigans occasionally , but that's what they are.
19) University Lake School
Junior: An overall amazing school with a close community and a healthy environment to learn in. The faculty really care about the success and prosper of their students and help them strive for greatness. The diversity is decent with about 15% of the high school students from foreign countries including China, Spain, Korea, and Germany.
20) Sun Prairie High School
Senior: Sun Prairie High School has outstanding teachers, counselors, administrators, and coaches that really care about the education and growth of every kid. The school is very diverse, and you have the opportunity to participate in a lot of different activities. It is a great school!
21) Kohler High School
Senior: Kohler High School is a small public school with the feel of a high quality private school. Although small, the school provides every opportunity to grow as a student and as an individual. There are great teachers and staff who want to help you succeed. There is an amazing music program as well.
22) Franklin High School
Senior: My experience at Franklin High School has been amazing! As soon as I came to FHS freshman year, I instantly felt welcome. The teachers here are very kind and excellent at what they do.
23) Appleton North High School
High School Senior: My school has a ton of clubs! There are clubs for every interest. Many clubs help you gain favor in the eyes of colleges because they get you heavily involved in the community and service. Through these clubs, it is a breeze to find new friends with similar interests and help make high school a great experience!
24) St. Lawrence Seminary High School
Alum: At first glance this school seems more like a place where children are brought for punishment. As I dove further into my years of study here i grew fond of the environment. This isolated school in the middle of nowhere now had purpose and I was proud to call it my home.
