Intersection of State Street And Wauwatosa Avenue to Close

WAUWATOSA, WI — The intersection of State Street and Wauwatosa Avenue will close from 9 am on Wednesday, June 21 to 7 pm on Friday, June 30 for construction.

Officials say the intersection will be open for July 4th. During this closure, westbound State Street traffic will be able to turn right on Wauwatosa Avenue and drive up the hill, including accessing public parking lots and businesses.

According to the city, closing the road is necessary for a few reasons:

• The width of the intersection doesn't allow for construction while maintaining live traffic.
• This is a concrete intersection, which means there has to be a cure period when no traffic can be on the roadway.

The intersection will have a 3-way stop from June 30 until September when new traffic signals will be installed. Just a reminder that the intersection of Harwood Avenue and Wauwatosa Avenue will close July 5th through Labor Day - note that the intersection will be open for Tosa Fest.
