Landmark Residents Write Valentines for Veterans

February 3, 2015 (WEST ALLIS, WI)—Residents at The Landmark of West Allis, a senior independent living community, are gathering to sign Valentine’s Day cards that will be delivered to veterans around West Allis and Milwaukee.

Residents were eager to show their gratitude to veterans for their sacrifices and achievements in serving our country. Some simply signed their name and wrote a thank you. Others wrote poems and heartfelt messages. “It’s great to give our residents the opportunity to give back to service men and women,” says Community Manager Jason Soloninka. “This also gives some residents who are not able to join us on volunteer outings a chance to volunteer their time.”

The Landmark of West Allis, a Capri Senior Community, is not the only community writing Valentine’s cards for veterans. Other Capri Communities around Southern Wisconsin are participating as part of their Gain and Retain your Overall Wellness (GROW) program, the company’s lifestyle program.

In addition to Valentine’s cards for veterans, the residents of The Landmark have also decorated cards for seniors in health and rehabilitation centers. The community also hosts regular card clubs, bingo, church services, movie nights and cocktail parties and provides other volunteer opportunities for its residents.
