Milwaukee Police Solve Three Major Theft/Burglary Cases in 24 Hours

Within the span of 24 hours, Milwaukee police were able to solve three cases involving nine reported incidents in three parts of the city.

MILWAUKEE -- Within the span of 24 hours, Milwaukee police were able to solve three cases involving nine reported incidents in three parts of the city.

Lower East Side

An alert victim who provided officers with the license plate of a suspect helped Milwaukee Police solve at least three crimes in Downtown Milwaukee and on the East Side. The most recent incident happened around 10:20 a.m. on September 11 when the victim, a 24-year-old woman, was walking in the 1900 block of N. Oakland Avenue.

A male suspect in his car drove past the victim and parked his car about a block away. The suspect walked up to the victim and grabbed the victim’s wallet and cell phone out of her hands. He then fled from the scene in his car.

The victim in this incident was able to memorize the car’s license plate and provide that to officers. Through their investigation, MPD officers determined the make/model of the vehicle and a potential suspect and on September 12 took the suspect into custody in the 5500 block of N. Teutonia Avenue.

The suspect, a 21-year-old Milwaukee man, confessed to this crime and two more theft incidents, an August 17 theft in the 100 block of N. Water Street and an August 23 theft also in the 100 block of N. Water Street. MPD will present this case to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days.

3 Suspects accused of 5 burglaries arrested on Northwest Side

Milwaukee Police officers arrested three suspects after the car they were in was found to have stolen items from at least five different burglaries on the Northwest Side.

Milwaukee police received a report of a suspicious vehicle from a citizen in the 10400 block of W. Kiehnau Avenue around 4:10 p.m. on September 12.

When the officers stopped the car, they saw several items inside the vehicle that were taken in numerous recent burglaries. The three suspects, a 15-year-old male, a 19-year-old man, and a 22-year-old man, were all taken into custody.

Two of the three suspects arrested confessed to at least five burglaries, including a September 4 incident in the 6200 block of N. 105th Street, a September 8 incident in the 6400 block of N. 101st Street, a September 10 incident in the 6200 block of N. 102nd Street, a September 11 incident in the 6200 block of N. 104th Street, and a September 12 incident in the 6300 block of N. 104th Street.

MPD will present this case to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days.

Felons Arrested, Stolen Gun Recovered from Northwest Side Burglary

Milwaukee Police arrested two convicted felons in connection with a Northwest Side burglary and recovered a stolen gun.

The incident began around 10:45 p.m. on September 11 in the 6200 block of N. 104th Street when a home was burglarized. The suspects stole a gun from the home as well as the female victim’s 2015 Buick Encore SUV.

Around 5:00 a.m. on September 12, District Three officers located the Encore in the 2400 block of N. 9th Street and the suspects inside the vehicle drove off. The car was eventually recovered a short time later in the 500 block of W. Layton Avenue and two suspects were taken into custody.

The stolen gun was recovered in the flight path of one of the suspects. The suspects arrested are a 20-year-old man and a 19-year-old man and both are convicted felons. MPD will present this case to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days for charges.
